Why Healthy Living is Important

Healthy living has become an important part of society today. Each year, thousands of people die from obesity and I would almost classify it as an epidemic. But why are people, especially Americans, so unhealthy? I personally believe that part of it comes down to the cost of healthy foods. Many middle and lower income families can't afford to buy all the good organic stuff. On the other hand, they can afford to buy the less healthy boxes of macaroni and cheese, bags of hot dogs, and meat for hamburgers. Sure, these foods are good to have once in a while - but not all the time.

It's not just the cost of healthy foods though, allot of people just don't like healthy stuff. Organic food may be costly but fruits and vegetables are still pretty darn cheap. Even if you can only afford a box of Kraft macaroni and cheese, pickup a fresh orange or apple to eat along with it and at least you'll be getting something positive out of the meal. Believe it or not, unhealthy foods can lead to all different kinds of diseases, immune problems, and possibly cancer. Unhealthy food can cause your teeth to rot, give you cardiovascular disease, cause kidney or liver problems, and even heart failure. This is all why choosing a healthy lifestyle is so important!

Do you think "Jack in the Box" or "Ronald McDonald" really cares about your health? If you choose to go buy a $1 burger from them for lunch each day they will happily sell it to you! Only you can make the decision to go on a diet and move yourself into a healthy lifestyle. Make the right choice!
